D.TRADING has completed the delivery of Ukraine’s first-ever U.S. LNG cargo imported on a free-on-board (FOB) basis, marking a major milestone in strengthening Ukraine’s and the region’s energy security ahead of winter.
This is the first time a Ukrainian private energy company has chartered, loaded, financed, and navigated a U.S. LNG cargo under an FOB structure, significantly expanding the country’s technical and commercial capabilities in LNG procurement.
And this is how the world reacted.
Bloomberg (Link) and Reuters (Link) reported the arrival of this cargo to open a new northern LNG corridor for Ukraine, complementing the southern route D.TRADING previously used through Greece’s Revithoussa terminal. This northern pathway connects Lithuania to Poland and the Baltic States, providing additional flexibility and resilience as winter approaches.
Ukraine’s domestic gas production has suffered severe losses following targeted attacks on energy infrastructure, with more than half of output temporarily disrupted. As Reuters and Bloomberg noted, Ukraine will need to import around 4 billion cubic meters of gas this winter - the equivalent of 40 LNG cargoes, as stated in an ICIS (Link) publication.
The FOB cargo required D.TRADING to assume full responsibility for:
• chartering the vessel
• loading the LNG in the U.S.
• navigating transatlantic delivery
• managing commercial and operational risk
This milestone showcases D.TRADING’s growing LNG capabilities across multiple European import points.
D.TRADING’s accomplishment has been noted and commended by top-tier decision-makers and prominent public figures.

KN Energies, the company manages the Klaipėda LNG Terminal also pointed out the importance of the new route for delivering gas to Ukraine Link
D.TRADING is now evaluating and negotiating additional U.S. LNG opportunities through:
• Klaipėda LNG Terminal (Lithuania)
• Revithoussa LNG Terminal (Greece)
• Trans-Balkan Corridor via discounted Route 1, Route 2 and Route 3 capacity
• Greece–Bulgaria interconnector (IGB)
• TAP–Greece interface
These routes provide access to both northern and southern delivery pathways, improving supply diversity for Ukraine and the wider Central & Eastern European region.
Terminals Open for Business
As ICIS highlighted, regional LNG terminals - including Klaipėda - remain supportive and well-positioned to handle additional volumes. D.TRADING continues to work with infrastructure partners to enhance liquidity, transparency, and cross-border gas flows into Ukraine.
A Significant Step for Ukraine’s Energy Security
The arrival of this LNG cargo reflects:
• strengthened cooperation between European and U.S. partners
• expansion of diversified gas routes into Ukraine
• strategic use of Baltic infrastructure to reinforce winter resilience
• D.TRADING’s growing ability to deliver competitive U.S. LNG to Ukraine and the region
This achievement reinforces D.TRADING’s commitment to helping stabilize Ukraine’s energy system while supporting regional energy independence during a critical period.
The LNG cargo - loaded at Venture Global’s Plaquemines export facility in Louisiana and transported aboard the Gaslog Houston - arrived at the Klaipėda LNG Terminal in Lithuania, operated by KN Energies. Approximately 100 million cubic meters (1 TWh) of natural gas will now be regasified and transported via Poland into Ukraine over the coming weeks.
